The National Blood Clot Alliance (NBCA) is thrilled to launch Season Two of Taking a Breath: A Stop the Clot Podcast, our award-winning series dedicated to blood clot awareness, education, and prevention.
The second season of the podcast, hosted by NBCA’s President Leslie Lake and Patient Liaison Todd Robertson—both blood clot survivors—brings even more inspiring stories from survivors and tributes from families affected by blood clots.
Taking a Breath shares compelling stories alongside expert insights from medical professionals, raising awareness about blood clots, which impact about 900,000 Americans annually and cause an estimated 100,000 deaths.
“I’m tired of waiting,” Lake said. “People need to talk about this—preventable deaths are happening, and we’re here to make real change. The time for nuance has passed. We are here to save lives. Full stop.”
Jennifer Smith, founder of Everything Podcasts and a blood clot survivor herself, expressed her pride in the project: “This podcast saves lives—I mean that literally. Something this common and this devastating should be paramount in public discourse, yet it is often not discussed.”
