Six months ago, at 31 years old, I suffered a deep vein thrombosis (DVT). Blood clots know no age.
On March 3, 2021 I woke up and had a pain in my left leg and knew something was wrong. I visited a doctor who sent me for an ultrasound, which revealed a massive DVT spanning my entire left leg. It was completely blocked. I was put on blood thinners and ultimately sent home.
The full support of my family and their constant care helped me to recover within three and half months. However, doctors have not been able to identify any underlying cause for why I developed the blood clot.
I want everyone to know blood clots can truly can happen to anyone, at any age.
This experience has definitely taught me to be more cautious about my health. I’ve come to learn more about the importance of a proper diet for improving overall health and reducing your risk for blood clots. I make sure to get up and walk every hour, even if it’s just for five minutes.
Finding this community has helped me a lot in my recovery and I feel fortunate to have survived so I want to share my experience with any friends out there who suffered from a DVT or are still suffering. Please know that you are not alone and get well soon!
